Performance Architectural Membrane
Sprung’s performance architectural membrane is as tough, durable, and colorful as conventional building materials, but it also offers real cost advantages. There are many reasons to construct a membrane building – it’s safe, energy efficient, climate controlled, cost-effective, and quicker to build. This unique material is engineered for your comfort and convenience.
Advantages of a Sprung Membrane Structure
-
Safe: The exterior architectural membrane is fire resistant and extremely durable. Designed to endure any climate imaginable; from -60°F (-51°C) to 122°F (+50°C). All our membranes are created with a high-strength rip-stop design.
-
Energy efficient : The architectural membrane creates a natural vapor barrier and improves the building’s R-value with virtually no dead air space. A blackout layer prevents solar gain and helps manage climate control. Our daylight membrane panel option provides an abundance of natural light, reducing lighting costs in your structure.
-
Attractive: Our selection of building membrane finishes allows for design flexibility for exterior or interior walls. Our structural membranes can be printed to match any preferred style, include brand logos or themes, or create a unique look and feel.
-
Cost effective: A Sprung tensioned membrane building is built much quicker than conventional building envelopes, reducing construction cost and down time, and getting your membrane structure up and running much faster.
Innovative Construction Process
-
The Sprung membrane structure has an interior comprised of individual 4.5-meter (about 14.75-ft) panels that are installed through the building’s aluminum frame.
-
The shelter membrane is then vertically and horizontally tensioned with a 10-ton hydraulic jack and ram.
-
Once the membrane is tensioned, you will never need to re-tension it throughout the duration of its lifespan. The Sprung membrane structure is highly resistant to tearing and ripping, even if forcefully punctured.
-
Sprung membrane shelters are permanent once completed, but can be relocated and repurposed if needed, thanks to the unique design and engineering of the frame.
